HOLISTIC CARE

Dr. Minadeo-Fox uses a comprehensive, whole-health approach to your family’s dental wellbeing and offers comprehensive dental services for children and adults. Whether you need periodontal treatments for gum disease or root canal therapy for tooth infections, Dr. Minadeo-Fox utilizes her experience and training to offer positive, healing holistic dentistry.

Holistic dentistry is science-based care with an emphasis on the mind-body connection. The body is a complex machine, and diagnoses should take into consideration the whole person, not just the symptoms affecting one particular part. For example, if you have an advanced case of gum disease, your gums and teeth can be detrimentally affected by the bacteria causing the infection. But did you know that continuing research suggests that oral infections are often indications of larger health issues? For example, periodontal disease is considered the sixth complication of diabetes. And people diagnosed with gum disease are twice as likely to suffer from cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Minadeo-Fox partners with our patients to create whole-health-inspired treatments. We see patients of all ages, beginning with children as soon as their first tooth erupts. It’s important that you contribute to the upkeep of your oral health by brushing and flossing every day. If you need advice about the type of products or techniques that best support your oral hygiene efforts, then we’re here to help! The better you take care of your whole mouth health, the better your whole body health! And getting a great checkup relies on your daily dental health habits.

Do you wonder how often you should see the dentist? Even if you brush and floss every day, if your teeth appear cavity-free, and if your gums don’t bleed, you may not think you need to see the dentist. However, sometimes problems aren’t obvious, especially when it comes to gum disease and oral cancer. About 80% of American adults have some form of gum disease, and unfortunately, symptoms are not always obvious. Oral cancer is often discovered in its later stages when it’s much more difficult to treat. At least one person dies every hour from oral cancer.

At our holistic dental practice, we see our patients every six months. If you’re diagnosed with gum disease, we may want to see you more often to ensure the disease does not worsen. Gum disease isn’t curable, but it can be treated and monitored. At your regular checkup, Dr. Minadeo-Fox screens for oral cancer, looks for signs of decay and disease, notes areas of concern, and considers the effect of stress, nutrition, and systemic illness on your oral health. She may also suggest advanced cosmetic dental care to improve your smile. A beautiful smile is a healthy smile!
